Tweet less, lead more, Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings advised President Donald Trump on Sunday.
Trump tweeted an explosive and unsubstantiated allegation against former President Barack Obama last weekend, accusing his predecessor of illegally ordering a wiretap of Trump Tower during the campaign.
“When you come out and you make allegations as the president has, which cannot be proven, and then, you find out the things are not true, you have now created a new sense of normalcy,” Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.” “And that normalcy is one where, as [Democratic California Rep.] Adam Schiff just said, you question almost anything that comes out of the president’s mouth.”
Appearing moments earlier on “This Week,” Schiff warned that the evidence-free allegation against Obama could harm Trump’s credibility on the world stage.
